Enhancing the Visibility and Dissemination of Research

This presentation was given as part of an invited panel for the American Library Association 2017 Annual Conference on Sunday, June 25, 2017 from 8:30 am - 10:00 am. The panel session was hosted by ACRL units: Education and Behavioral Sciences Section, University Libraries Section, and Research and Scholarly Environment Committee. The panel session was titled: Impactful Partnerships: Navigating the Evolving Scholarly Communication Landscape with Faculty. Those involved were Nicky Agate, Rachel Borchardt, and Karen Gutzman (panelists); Deborah Gaspar, Kaya van Beynen, Christina Heady, Jody Bailey, and Rebecca Blakiston, (EBSS/ULS committee members)

Abstract

Transformations in the scholarly communication landscape show no sign of abating. For this program, panelists focus on cutting-edge trends for tracking scholarly output: metrics, altmetrics, bibliometrics, and digital identity. This panel of altmetrics experts discuss the pros and cons of using metrics for ranking as well as how these technological solutions optimize discoverability of scholarly publications. Attendees will gain new insight into scholarly communication practices that will reinvigorate their partnerships with faculty.
