Transparent disclosure of artificial intelligence tools in writing scholarly manuscripts
Description
In this poster we present the result of our conceptual work on the ethics of disclosing artificial intelligence tools when writing scholarly manuscripts. We argue that LLMs should not be named as authors or mentioned in the acknowledgments section of publications. Instead, they should be cited in-text, followed by being mentioned among the references. Building on the suggestions of the APA Style for referencing ChatGPT, we offer a new referencing format that supports an ethical and responsible disclosure, promotes transparency and openness about used methods and involved contributors in research, and fosters a culture of integrity and accountability within scholarly communication.
